Refurbished Rack & Pinion Elevators 

McDonough Elevator Sales & Rentals recently assisted a power plant in need of a permanent baghouse elevator. The elevator needed to be installed and tested within 60 days due to an upcoming outage. McDonough was able to provide a Champion model US-2000 elevator (pictured on the left) originally manufactured in 1981.  McDonough performed a complete refurbishment and modernization of the elevator car and tower.  The tower was sandblasted, hot-dip galvanized and equipped with new gear rack. The car was completely stripped to the frame and hot-dip galvanized.  After galvanizing, bright aluminum skins were added. New motors, control panel and a state-of-the-art variable frequency drive were utilized. Finally, newly designed chain drive gates were installed and the elevator was ready to be shipped.  This full refurbishment, modernization and installation was completed in 50 days.
	This Champion Model US-60-1R was refurbished and modernized for a long term rental in a California refinery.  The equipment was to be installed in a hazardous area defined as NEC Class 1, Div 2, Groups C&D.  Because of the rental duration, the customer requested the elevator be equipped with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for smooth starting, stopping and reduced brake wear.  McDonough upgraded the elevators' main control panel, electrical components and enclosures to meet the stringent NEC standards.  Since this elevator will be used as the customers' primary source of vertical transportation, McDonough was chosen because of our reputation for providing safe and relaible equipment.
