Rack & Pinion Elevators

Rack & Pinion Elevators eliminate the need for wire rope sheaves, enclosed hoistways, machine rooms and/or hydraulic equipment. Rack and Pinion Elevators are also called Permanent Manlifts or Personnel Elevators and offer faster installation times, lower service costs and straightforward maintenance procedures. Rack and Pinion Elevators are designed for robust operation with user-friendly controls to ensure trouble-free operation.

Industrial elevators feature a rack and pinion drive for safe, reliable operation. Our elevators are designed for safety. The pinion, which is driven by an electric motor mounted on top of the car, mates with the tower rack allowing the car to travel up or down on command. An electric multiple disc brake on the motor is used to stop travel. A loss of power automatically sets the brake.

In the event of a power failure, the rack and pinion elevator car can be safely lowered to the nearest landing.
